I am the University Lecturer of Arts and Creativity in Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge.

My research examines the intersection of youth studies and urban cultural politics, as well as the pedagogic affordances of contemporary art.

My current book project is titled Creative Underclass: Youth, Labor, and the 21st Century City.

I serve on the editorial review board for Art Education, Journal of Cultural Research in Art Education, and Visual Arts Research.

In 1997, I founded New Urban Arts, a youth arts collective for high school students and artists based in Providence, Rhode Island.

I use social media less as a tool for connecting and more as a tool for archiving:

Twitter: Quotes from reading, which is linked to my blog on this site.

Facebook: GIF-storms and other absurdities. Don’t read into it too much.

Instagram: Photographs of fine art exhibitions and everyday art, including food and landscapes.
